 Gillian practiced Judo until she was 15 and attained the rank of Nikyu (2nd Degree Brown Belt). She is a Life Member of the USJA and had quite the career in her short competition run.
She was selected 2002 Indiana Junior Player of the Year (under 13) by Indiana Judo. She and Gabriel Brown were selected 2002 USJA Junior Kata Players of the Year for Indiana.
Gillian was a 2X State Champion and 3X National Shiai Champion and 3X National kata champion with her partner Gabriel Brown.
She finished the 2004 year ranked #1 on the Juvenile A National Elite Roster. This qualified her to be selected to the U.S. U15 Pan Am Team. She went to Dominican Republic and won the Silver Medal in the 58kg division
